Design futures
The Design Futures Public Interest Design (PID) Student Leadership Forum from the Sam Fox School is an interdisciplinary convening that fosters capacity-building for future leaders hoping to use design as a tool for social equity and positive change in and with historically marginalized communities. Design Futures seeks to build the next generation of leadership in design; diversify the ecosystem of public interest design in terms of discipline, race, gender, and beyond; and curate a national network of thought leadership.
Brown School Office of Community Partnerships
Focused on fostering meaningful connections with our local communities, the Office of Community Partnerships (OCP) at the Brown School aims to cultivate, support, and sustain partnerships that bring about transformative social change for local communities and the region. The Brown School has identified priority geographic areas in the most critical need, making a measurable impact through social and economic justice.
Washington University Medical Center Redevelopment Corporation
The Redevelopment Center at WashU Medicine has helped provide human and social services, diverse housing options, and residential life and safety to surrounding neighborhoods. This is done through initiatives and outreach programs that caters to those communities.
Small Business Initiative
The Small Business Initiative from Olin Business School works to positively impact the St. Louis economy. Undergraduate students work on consulting and recommending best practices aimed at the success of St. Louis businesses. Past initiatives include LifeBridge Partnership, the Salvation Army, and Sew St. Louis. Businesses are able to apply for them to be included.
Finance Metrics Clinic
The Finance Metrics Clinic connects St. Louis startups with WashU students to provide data-driven financial consulting. Students lead and work on these projects for 6-8 weeks.
Marketing Metrics Clinic
The Marketing Metrics Clinic connects St. Louis startups with WashU students to help address marketing challenges and foster continuous growth.
Center for Experiential Learning
Olin’s Center for Experiential Learning links the classroom with the world of business. With faculty support and guidance, talented Olin students apply leading-edge practices and practical management solutions to business challenges.
School of Continuing and Professional Studies
CAPS, previously University College, offers adult students the opportunity to earn a degree at WashU. The program is committed to providing an education and career pathway for St. Louis learners who have previously not had access to Washington University.
Hire WashU Talent
Through this initiative, local and national employers connect with WashU’s intelligent, diverse, grounded, well-rounded talent. WashU’s Employer Relations team coordinates career fairs, networking events, information sessions and road shows, and collaborates with employers to explore new and innovative recruitment and engagement strategies.
The Hatchery
In this course from Skandalaris Center for Interdisciplinary Innovation and Entrepreneurship at WashU, students pursue their own business idea or support community entrepreneurs. They work in the St. Louis area to create a program that caters to individuals mostly in the St. Louis area. Over half of the ventures launched have taken place in the St. Louis area with over two-thirds of the program still taking place. They have created over a hundred jobs in the St. Louis area.
