Working together for a stronger region.

At WashU, “In St. Louis, For St. Louis” is an institution-wide commitment that draws upon our strength as an economic anchor, our role as a global talent magnet and the power of our mission of research, education and patient care to create real, lasting impact and opportunity in St. Louis and beyond.

Our focus

Expanding Economic Opportunity

WashU is fueling growth in the St. Louis region by creating jobs, supporting businesses, and investing in innovation. As one of the region’s largest employers and economic engines, we’re committed to building a stronger, more inclusive economy that benefits everyone.

Advancing Educational Access

From classrooms to campuses, WashU is expanding educational opportunities for students and educators across the St. Louis region. Through partnerships, curriculum support, and research-driven innovation, we’re equipping students with the skills they need to succeed.

Building Healthy Communities

WashU is improving health and well-being in St. Louis by providing world-class patient care, pioneering medical breakthroughs, and working alongside community partners to expand access to vital health services. Strong communities start with good health, and WashU is committed to making health care accessible for all.

Featured Initiative

Friday Pro Bono Clinic

The Friday Neighborhood Clinic, previously on Saturdays, has reopened to provide quality care to St. Louis residents in a more efficient and accessible manner. WashU Medicine students lead this initiative to provide compassionate and skilled care to the uninsured and underinsured St. Louis residents. As an interprofessional establishment, the clinic provides care for health that is not considered “primary care” to allow for more expansive help.

Chancellor Andrew Martin throws out the ceremonial first pitch before the Cubs v. Cardinals game.

“It’s time to double down on our role and impact in St. Louis. As an institution founded with the very intent to provide increased educational access at the local level, we are Washington University because of St. Louis. We’re proud to be Washington University in St. Louis. And, I’m calling us to be Washington University for St. Louis.”
